LA FONTE, world leader in filtration treatment, galvanic bath treatment, precious and non-precious metal recovery, has recently developed and commercialized a control system, called “GalTest”, for the analysis of galvanic baths.
The great advantage of this equipment is that all the instruments for its operation are concentrated in a single small and functional structure, built in fire retardant and flame retardant polypropylene. The test solution container (Cell) is placed on a removable trolley, also made of PPS, with a system for collecting possible drips.
The GalTest team consists of:
1. An electrolytic cell in PMMA of standard dimensions (256ml volume), to reproduce the status of the electrodeposition process of the bath to be controlled.
2. A rectifier with 0-10 V output voltage and 0-10 A amperage with display (minimum resolution: 0.1 V and 0.01 A)
3. A timer with an acoustic signal to set the test time, built into the display
4. An electrical resistance to heat liquids.
5. An adjustable geared motor for mechanical stirring of liquids.
6. An adjustable insufflation system for agitation of the liquid by air
7. A system of anodes, cathodes and terminals connected to the current rectifier.
The purpose of GalTest is the analysis of galvanic baths, by introducing the solution to be controlled in the Cell in which the special sheet (cathode) is immersed, generally made of iron or brass, and finally establishing the necessary parameters to simulate the deposition process. From the deposition obtained it can be verified:
• The adhesion of the coating to the base metal
• Any internal stress on the tank
• The presence of metallic impurities
• The balance and content of additives
• Optimization of current density
• Any other value
