Rocks weighing several tons, hot asphalt or endless loads of gravel day after day: the commercial vehicle bodies of Moser AG Kipper- und Fahrzeugbau (Moser AG Vehicle and Tipper Construction), based in Steffisburg, Switzerland, have to withstand enormous loads during demanding construction operations. Moser has relied on Fronius welding systems for 24 years to weld the steel and aluminum sheets of tippers and loading systems.
Deadweight reduction: “Always a load ahead”
Moser AG manufactures bodies for trucks with a total weight of between 18 and 40 tons, the latter capable of carrying more than 25 tons of payload. “The largest possible transport volume per trip is the most important thing in our industry. In order for our customers to transport as much material as possible within a set total weight, we design our tippers and loading systems to be as light as possible. possible, without sacrificing strength, durability or ease of use”, emphasizes Stefan Rolli, Managing Director of Moser AG.
Depending on the size and number of axles of the respective vehicle, the truck bodies produced in Steffisburg typically weigh between 3 and 4.5 tons. “When using our lighter bodies, our customers can typically enjoy the advantage of being able to carry an extra 500 to 700kg of payload per trip compared to our competitors. This means they can make much more efficient use of the vehicles, which which is in line with our motto ‘Always one charge ahead’, says Stefan Rolli.
