The Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB), HP, Leitat, and SEAT join forces to provide 3D printing support for any needs that may arise in the fight against COVID-19
The rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus has taken the world by storm, generating a state of tension, especially in pharmacies, healthcare centers, and hospitals, due to the shortage of masks and protective and respiratory equipment. Given this situation, many private initiatives have emerged from the world of 3D printing with ideas and designs that can meet some of these needs.
In response to this situation, the CZFB, the multinational HP, a technological leader in industrial 3D printing equipment; Leitat, and the automotive company SEAT have made their professionals and technological knowledge available to healthcare authorities and centers to respond to any needs that may arise related to the fight against the spread of COVID-19 using additive manufacturing technologies. The Consortium also offers to facilitate the coordination of its resources for any specific project currently underway and intended to be scaled to an industrial level.
This initiative has also been extended to the European Union, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, and the Generalitat of Catalonia. CZFB officials have contacted European authorities to provide them with a list of equipment, resources, and materials available to cover any need related to 3D printing: from technical personnel, designers, operators, and production managers to state-of-the-art equipment that includes software tools, printing equipment, and post-processing of printed parts.
In addition, the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium offers its capabilities to companies and entrepreneurs so they can submit their 3D printing ideas and projects, which can help stop the mass spread of the coronavirus and protect the health of all citizens, especially healthcare professionals.
