ABB has launched the OmniVance™ FlexArc® Compact, a new smaller welding system with greater flexibility, ease of use and better integration, to help companies address welding labor shortages.
“Welding is one of the fastest growing applications for automation, and it’s being driven by labor shortages,” said Marc Segura, President of ABB’s Robotics Division. “Increasing costs and more demanding customer needs are making production more complex, which means manufacturers need simple automation solutions that can easily adapt to changing market needs. OmniVance FlexArc is our answer. We’re making it even smaller, more flexible and easier to use.”
With the smallest footprint in its class, the OmniVance FlexArc Compact helps fabricators optimize space, while up to four robots can be added without disturbing the system fabric, aiding flexibility.
This new plug&play modular solution incorporates robots, controllers, software, peripherals and other key components in a simplified cell specific to the welding application.
At 14.3 m2, the OmniVance FlexArc Compact is the smallest arc welding solution in its class. Its innovative 45-degree gantry mount design maximizes the robot’s working parameters by placing it in the center of a three-axis turntable, bringing it closer to the workpiece.
Each OmniVance FlexArc system can be simulated prior to commissioning with RobotStudio®, ABB’s industry-leading programming and simulation tool, reducing integration time and effort while minimizing disruption.
